Description
I am not an unthinking, flag-waver. I consider myself a citizen of the world with a large world-view that includes all of humanity. There are many things wrong in America. As an idealist at heart, there are many things about our country I would like to see change. "Reflections on the Flag" is a call to all viewers to think about what being an American really means and what you want to see this country become. For me, today, this image is uploaded to express my love of life and my gratitude for what I have in my life and all that's good.

The richness of color, light, design and thought in this piece is deep and engaging! Beautifully done! Because things are worse elsewhere doesn't mean there's no room for improvement here at home. The joy and gratitude we feel at the stirring sight of our flag is not diminished when we recognize that much work remains ahead of us.

Lenore, great photo and even greater meaning after reading your description...it is easy to grab onto slogans such as "love it or leave it..." far harder to understand the meaning of diversity and equal opportunity that this flag and all who have died to preserve the meaning of liberty and democracy means...
