Description
If my father had lived, he would be 97 years old today. This digital painting is the first of four in a series to honor him. He spent a month every summer for 30 years among the Hopi and Navaho nations in an effort to learn what Anglo-American culture could learn from them. The sacrifices of my parents are deeply appreciated by me today. It is from them all their children learned a large world-view, integrity, and empathy.
This painting is in honor and memory of Canyon de Chelley, one of the spiritual homes of the Senior Family.
Willoughby F. Senior (10/15/16-02/04/84) is the author and illustrator of the book, Smoke Upon the Winds--Adventures in Peace, about the Hopi.

HI Lenore - Besides being a beautiful composition with its range of orange and complimentary hues, it is a wonderful testament to your Father, and his empathy towards the Hopi and Navaho nations - Thank you for your very kind thoughts on 'Lac St. Louis QC' - Chris

This is beautiful, Lenore. Love the way you work with visual layers. This time they seem vertical, as well as horizontal. And the composition, light. i'ina

I just read the description, oh my, how truly wonderful and what an adventurous man he must have been. I am thrilled with this work you have done in the memory of your parents. ( My father would be 97 now too, He died when I was only fourteen) This work speaks to me, must be that Hopi Navaho spirit coming through and it affected me and I hadn't read the description yet!

The rocks hold so much grandeur and power. What a feeling I get when I view the solid face of this cliff and the pale robin's egg blue sky with one lone bird aloft. V/F
