Description
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JUEL TRASK (Nov. 16)! November 11, 2012. This is the story of Pawli, as told by my sister, FAA artist, Dawn Senior-Trask. She sent me the photo and I reworked it in P/S E8: "You'll never believe what happened this morning. We got up at 6 to get the chores done in time to get to Polly's graveside service [a dear friend of the family], and while it was still dark Juel had stepped out onto the deck when he heard a faint sound. After hearing it several times, he called, "Kitty, kitty!" and a cat jumped into his lap! We have several feral cats around, including a siamese, and this one is a siamese/tabby mix but younger and smaller, and obviously someone's pet. He was very hungry and thirsty so we brought him in and took care of him -- he was really starved -- and Juel immediately started calling him "Pawli. " And that's the odd thing -- he's the same coloring as Polly's favorite cat. Polly had a kazillion cats, as you know, but she had a favorite that she kept indoors with her all the time. It had longer hair than this one, but the same color. We thought it was kind of amazing. "Pawli" soon had the dogs under control, but Flopsy [now Dawn & Juel's cat since my mother's death] was not happy and yowls at him, though they haven't actually fought. "Pawli" is a very sweet, affectionate and absolutely gorgeous cat." Despite phone calls to neighbors, Dawn has not located the owner. UPDATE: Pawli now owns Dawn and Juel, to their absolute delight. Their Australian Shepherd, Leila, mediates between Pawli and Flopsy to keep the cats safe, despite scratches to herself. Amazing. UPDATE: Dawn & Juel kept the cat, being unable to find the owner. On Jan. 2, 2013, the vet's office confirmed Pawli is a 2 year old neutered male.

Perfect representation of a cat's philosophy: this is MY world, and you are all living in it. Such a nice story of how Polly entered your life. I'm glad she now has a home and can survey her kingdom in peace. fv
