Description
1950's - The Burro Blanket, by Willoughby Senior, taken on 8 mm movie film during his 30 year relationship with Hopi and Navajo friends. Senior had read a book on the Zuni and went from NJ to Arizona to meet the Zuni, but never made it that far as he loved the Hopi and Navajo people. This shot may actually be Senior's wife, Aileen, since she occasionally made the trip with him. The burro is guided by a tap to the left or right of the burro's neck. This work was processed by one of Senior's daughters, Lenore Senior.

What a resonant and beautiful rendition of this rich and timeless image! Yes, that's our mother riding the burro! I've never seen such a fancy blanket, and on such big strong burro -- the family's Hopi friends certainly honored her to lend her their best burro and trappings -- Mom was always a favorite with everyone. Fabulous work -- love it! fav
