Description
1950's - Navajo Pow Wow was taken in 8 mm movie film by Willoughby Senior during his 30 year friendships with the Navajo and Hopi tribes. This image was most likely taken in Alburquerque, NM. Senior did not take many pictures at such locations as he felt that this were ceremonies meant for white people, rather than true spiritually inspired dances. In most cases, Anglos were not allowed into the indian ceremonial dances. This image was processed by one of his daughters, Lenore Senior.

Laura and Dean Yingling were friends of mine back then and were instrumental in bringing clothing and goods to the areas reservations every year. I wonder if they were friends with your father? Susan Brown
