The story of Moby Dick unfolds in bold geometric lines that define the shapes of the characters and environment it takes place in. The white whale leaps out from the rough ridge lines of the sea. The whale dwarfs that of Ahab's ship that at the moment sails on a calm patch of ocean. The rays of the sun try to shine past the trianglar 'mountain' of blue sky perhaps to light the captain of the ship's way.
